Sally Vannoy grew up on a horse ranch in Montana and has ridden horses and had an affinity for animals since a young child.  To Vannoy, drawing has always been second nature.  Her paintings and drawings include horses, wildlife and the natural landscape.  “I like to think of my paintings as a journal of my life.  I paint my actual experiences and adventures.  This brings a real connection to each painting. The stories and feelings from these experiences are reflected in each piece.”

Vannoy designed and built her studio in the Flathead Valley in Northwest Montana.  The pristine setting of towering mountain ranges, rivers and lakes and an abundance of wildlife provide endless inspiration for her work.  Glacier National Park is nearby and a place where she spends time hiking and painting en plein air.

A pivotal point in Vannoy’s life was when she moved to the Wind River Valley in Wyoming for 4 years for her husband’s career.  It was there that she met some of the country’s premiere western artists whom became mentors and friends.  With no formal training, they saw her raw talent and drawing ability and honed her painting skill.

Vannoy’s work can be found in private and corporate collections throughout the country.  Her work has been exhibited at Hockaday Museum of Art, the Briscoe Western Art Museum, C.M. Russell Museum and numerous galleries including Settler’s West, Coeur d’ Alene Galleries and A.Banks.  Her work has had featured articles in assorted National publications including Big Sky Journal, Art Of The West and Southwest Art. With Southwest Art magazine deeming her an artist to “buy now”.  Sally has also won multiple awards: Best in Show- Patron’s Choice, Artist Choice, Best Body Of Work, Best Drawing, Best Wildlife Painting and more.

In 2017 Vannoy was honored to be accepted into the prestigious Society of Animal Artists straight to signature status.  Her work and reputation have grouped her among the countries top contemporary western artists.  Vannoy’s love for animals and the western landscape are authentically depicted in oil on linen.
